A leaked video obtained by the Daily Beast shows former President Donald Trump sitting in a golf cart, holding a stack of cash, and discussing the 2024 presidential debate. In the video, Trump harshly criticizes Joe Biden, calling him a "broken-down pile of crap" and predicting that he will quit the race, leaving Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic candidate.
The clip captures the 78-year-old Trump alongside his son Barron, asking an off-camera group about his debate performance. He then speculates that Biden will not seek re-election, saying, "He just quit, you know – he’s quitting the race. I got him out of the – and that means we have Kamala."
Despite these claims, the White House and most Democrats insist that Biden will remain the party's nominee. Voter polls indicate Biden has slipped six points behind Trump, and some suggest Harris could be a stronger candidate for the Democrats in November. Nevertheless, Biden’s campaign firmly denies that he is stepping down. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stated, "Absolutely not," while several Democratic governors echoed the sentiment, saying Biden is "in it to win it."
The Trump campaign has not directly commented on the leaked video but predicted the "total collapse" of the Democratic party following Biden's poor debate performance and increasing calls for him to step aside. In response, the Biden-Harris campaign issued a statement condemning Trump's remarks, calling the video a "new rock bottom" for him.
This latest video follows a pattern of leaked footage that has caused embarrassment for Trump in the past, such as the infamous Access Hollywood tape from 2016, where he made vulgar comments about women and bragged about sexual harassment.
In the leaked video, Trump also questions Biden's capability to handle foreign adversaries, mentioning Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping. He comments, "Can you imagine that guy dealing with Putin? And the president of China – who’s a fierce person. He’s a fierce man, very tough guy. And they see him."
The video emerged just hours after the Trump campaign released its first attack ads against Harris, who is seen as the most likely candidate to replace Biden if he were to exit the race.
