Isaac Brock from Modest Mouse, known for lengthy gaps between albums, is now aiming to increase his band's output. Despite a history of up to eight years between releases, nearly thirty years into the band's career, Brock is eager to accelerate. Following the positive reception of "The Golden Casket" released three years ago, he has already amassed enough songs for a new album. Collaborating with producers like Jacknife Lee and Dave Sardy, he plans to release it by next spring. Reflecting on his past productivity, Brock expresses satisfaction in returning to a daily writing routine, a contrast to longer gaps experienced after "The Moon and Antarctica" album.
The interview revolves around the 20th anniversary of Modest Mouse's breakthrough album, "Good News for People Who Love Bad News" (currently reissued with additional content). Brock hints at a potential fall tour featuring the original band members who played on that album, including drummer Benjamin Weikel, who replaced the late Jeremiah Green. Brock acknowledges the challenge of assembling the rest of the setlist for the tour.

In another part of the interview, Brock delves into the behind-the-scenes details of creating "Good News," from the genesis of "Float On" to his struggles with alcohol during the recording process. Reflecting on his attempt to quit drinking, he humorously recalls a moment during vocal tracking when he contemplated harming the producer, Dennis Herring. Despite his initial intentions to turn himself in to the nearby police station, he ultimately found himself drawn to a nearby bar, abandoning his plans.
