Disney+ Sets Premiere Date for 'Renegade Nell'
Several months ago, we were treated to a glimpse of the captivating world of "Renegade Nell" through a collection of first-look images. These visuals showcased Harland, Mohammed, and the ensemble cast adorned in their period attire, complete with elaborate wigs and intricate costumes befitting the era. Alongside Harland and Mohammed, the series features an impressive lineup including Alice Kremelberg ("The Sinner") as Sofia Wilmot, Joely Richardson ("Nip/Tuck") as Lady Eularia Moggerhanger, Jake Dunn ("Half Bad") as Sofia's brother Thomas, Adrian Lester ("Mary Queen of Scots") as the Earl of Poynton, and Frank Dillane ("Fear the Walking Dead") as Charles Devereux.
Renegade Nell, the highly anticipated Original series from Disney+, featuring Louisa Harland of "Derry Girls" fame in the titular role, is slated for a spring premiere. Scheduled for March 29, all eight episodes of the series will debut exclusively on Disney+. This announcement was made during the streaming platform's presentation at the TCA today.
Crafted by BAFTA-award-winning writer Sally Wainwright, renowned for her work on "Happy Valley," and helmed by lead director Ben Taylor of "Sex Education" acclaim, this eight-part Original series promises an engaging and compelling narrative experience.
The heart of the story revolves around Nell Jackson, portrayed by the talented Louisa Harland. Nell is depicted as a sharp-witted and fearless young woman thrust into a harrowing situation when she's falsely accused of murder. In a twist of fate, she transforms into the most infamous outlaw of 18th-century England. However, her journey takes an unexpected turn when she encounters a mystical entity named Billy Blind. Through this encounter, Nell begins to comprehend that her destiny extends far beyond anything she had previously envisioned, opening doors to a world of magic and mystery she never thought possible.
Renegade Nell boasts a stellar ensemble cast, featuring Frank Dillane as "Charles Devereux", Alice Kremelberg as "Sofia Wilmot", Ényì Okoronkwo as "Rasselas", Jake Dunn as "Thomas Blancheford", Bo Bragason as "Roxy Trotter", Florence Keen as "George Trotter", with Nick Mohammed portraying the enigmatic "Billy Blind". Joining them are Joely Richardson as "Lady Eularia Moggerhangar" and Adrian Lester as "Robert Hennessey, Earl of Poynton". Pip Torrens takes on the role of "Lord Blancheford", while Craig Parkinson embodies "Sam Trotter".
Produced by Lookout Point, the series is executive produced by Sally Wainwright and Ben Taylor, alongside Faith Penhale, Will Johnston, and Louise Mutter for Lookout Point, as well as Johanna Devereaux for Disney+. Adding their directorial prowess to the mix are Amanda Brotchie of "Gentleman Jack" and MJ Delaney of "Ted Lasso". Jon Jennings serves as the Series Producer, with Stella Merz handling production duties.
